4 p.m. – Wacky Jackie The Clown
4:30 p.m. – Cross Canyon

Bok Tower Gardens will offer free admission for the fifth annual Boktoberfest Plant Sale on October 19 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event will feature live music, German food, craft beers, tree climbing and activities for kids.
“Boktoberfest celebrates the start of Florida’s gardening season,” explains David Price, Gardens’ president, “where plant lovers and gardeners can come to find a wide variety of Florida plants and learn from experts to help make the most of their garden.”
Some of the plants for sale will include orchids, palms, trees, tropical fruits, Florida natives, ferns, bamboo, roses, heliconias, bromeliads, tillandsia air plants and water lilies. Education will be provided by Master Gardeners, plant societies, garden clubs and the UF-IFAS Extension Service. Expert gardeners will host free educational workshops throughout the day.
This year’s festivities will feature the Jimmy & Eckhard Oktoberfest Show, a three-member lederhosen ensemble performing authentic German music. The group plays instruments from Germany, Austria and Switzerland including long Swiss alphorns the size of trees; a wooden Alpine xylophone, that is often referred to as “wooden laughter;” the “Singing Saw” and more.
Voted “Florida’s Best Garden,” the National Historic Landmark was dedicated in 1929 as a gift from world peace advocate Edward Bok. Nearly 700 acres of conservation lands and gardens surround a 205-foot neo-Gothic and art deco Singing Tower carillon and Pinewood Estate, a 20-room, Mediterranean-style 1930s winter retreat. The popular Central Florida destination is a haven for wildlife with hidden geocaches and rare plants found nowhere else in the world where visitors come to relax and escape the stress of today’s busy world.

Lakeland Police Department open house 2013

Lakeland Police Department will hold their Open House on Saturday, October 19th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Some of the businesses that have committed are:  Just Dance, Planet Fitness, LA Fitness, Bent’s Bicycle Shop, LeRoy’s Bicycle Shop, InnerAct Alliance and Omega Man, to just name a few.

In addition to the vendors that will share a wealth of knowledge, we will have our K9’s, SWAT team, DUI Enforcement, Hostage Negotiators, Crime Scene Techs, the Helicopter and more! Along with LPD’s components, we will have other city partners with us; the Fire Department, Lakeland Electric, Lakeland Water, Coleman Bush and Simpson Park.

There will be tours of the police station beginning at 10:30 a.m. and run until 1:30 p.m. These tours include the Crime Lab, Communications Center and the Emergency Operations Center.
You will be able to enjoy plenty of children’s activities and entertainment. And, hot dogs and popcorn will be served during the event.

Delightful Sounds and Agricultural Classes

My family first me Aimee Carter with Delightful Sounds and Kindermusik about 10 years ago when we lived in Brandon.  My first son Jack and I attended Kindermusik classes together and he and I still have great memories of her and her classes. I have watched her business grown and change over the years and thought I would share her new website and new classes. She is offering at her farm in Lithia agricultural, Florida history and survival type classes that sound super cool!

Check out the website links below for class descriptions and schedules and if you go, please tell Ms. Aimee that Christy Slaughter sent you!
